SMT Supervisor, Charlotte Toal, heads up the team of Technicians in Marl's SMT Centre.
Our go-to for all things SMT, Charlotte began her Marl career over 3 years ago as Production Operative, before moving into the SMT Centre in 2014 and becoming Supervisor in 2015. Having previously held management roles in the Hospitality industry, Charlotte was ready for a change when she joined Marl and has been able to put her previous experience to good use in her current role.
During her downtime Charlotte can often be found supporting her sons, Barrow Raiders players Dan and Shane Toal, on the rugby pitch.

We asked Charlotte to tell us more about what a typical day in the SMT Centre looks like:
"To start my day I check the work load and prioritise orders so that I can plan accordingly. After planning the daily workload, as a team we run the orders. We start with pasting, then building the products using the I-Pulse machines, checking for consistent high quality. We then fully test and pack ready for dispatch.
My favourite part of the job is running new products - and then seeing the finished product!
When I joined the SMT team I completed training on the I-Pulse machines in the SMT Centre, enabling me to run the machines and write new programs. Although it was a little scary I really enjoyed learning something new, I've had a lot of support from the team and Mark Harper, Special Projects Design Manager, which I am grateful for."
