Julia Elson, SMT Technician, has been telling us a little bit more about how she spends her weekends. Together with her husband, Phil (Site Manager here at Marl) and her two Working Sheepdogs; Jack and Storm, the Elsons' spend the weekends competing (and usually winning!) at dog agility events.

Jack, now 12 years old, completed Grade 1 -7 in dog agility in 2 years and still competes now in Hoopers. Hoopers is combined of hoops to run through, barrels to go round and tunnels to navigate so is safer and more accessible than agility. Julia, a Level 1 Instructor and Judge designs courses and describes Hoopers as "low impact, free flow and better for the dogs".

Storm, the younger of the 2 dogs at 6, and Jack recently competed at the Tri-Score Tournament, Julia says "I really wasn't expecting to win anything; Storm won the Derby, and then she won the Championship, and then Jack won Veteran Champion! I was so proud!"

Storm went on to compete in the National Finals and completed the course in around 10 seconds, again Julia wasn't expecting a win "Due to the current circumstances the events took place at 20 different venues around the country, with each competitor leaving before the next competitor could attend. Results were correlated from around the venues and I kept checking my phone all day. When the results came through Storm was 1st! The UK National Winner of Touch 'n' Go" she tells us.

Congratulations to Julia, Phil, Jack and Storm! What a fantastic achievement!
