Production Engineer, Abby Hempsall, has been with Marl for 2 and a half years. Originally starting out in Sales, we quickly discovered Abby was well suited to Production Engineering, and she joined their team to complete her Apprenticeship.
Since then Abby has gone from strength to strength, becoming involved in some of our bigger projects whilst maintaining her involvement in the day-to-day running of Production Engineering, and she still found time for her college work!
Prior to joining Marl, Abby studied sport at Furness College; she is a keen athlete and has had many achievements at competition level.
Name: Abby Hempsall
Hometown: Walney, Barrow in Furness
Time at Marl: 2.5 years
We asked Abby to tell us about a typical day in her role:
Not every day is the same when working in Production Engineering. I try to get involved in different things so I am constantly learning and improving my skills. I enjoy my role being varied.
Usually, I check my emails every morning to see if any requests or tasks have come through. I will deal with any I can and plan/prioritise my day depending on the tasks I have. This doesn't always go to plan though, as other tasks may come up that take priority, so flexibility is important. The tasks could vary from creating stock items and BOMs to writing instructions.
I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to be involved in the project teams, this has enabled me to develop my knowledge and complete more tasks independently.
