The MARL team works together flexibly, making sure we get done what needs to be done. I try to focus on facilitating projects, setting the vision and communicating, both internally and with our stakeholders.

How long have you worked at MARL?

44 years.

 

What’s your specialty?

Within my current role as MD, I especially enjoy being involved with new projects, research and innovation. I like to think I can make a small contribution to activities. Recently, I’ve been interested in user interface for indication products and how illumination can work to fill space. I also consider how we can optimise features, advantages and benefits for the client.

 

What’s the best thing about working at MARL?

The combination of looking back at our successes over the years, getting the best out of the here and now and working towards a better future.

 

Outside of work, what do you do for fun?

I like to paint, play golf, fell walk, mountain bike, so the Lake District is simply perfect most of the time!

 

What’s your favourite song?

The toughest question so far! It really depends on what genre of music, I especially enjoy classical music, avant-garde jazz, Motown and the Philly Sound.

 

What’s your favourite TV Show or movie?

An even tougher question! I don't enjoy TV, so I would choose Cinema Paradiso, The Godfather and Groundhog Day.

 

What’s a little known secret you’re willing to reveal?

I like candlelight as much as LEDs. It produces amazing light and never needs wire or a PSU!
