Whilst it is difficult to imagine what life is like for the citizens of Ukraine during this difficult time, we are aware of a number of support networks across the UK and locally.

MARL have decided to support Furness Ukraine Appeal with a donation of £1,000. The appeal is raising funds for transport, supplies and accommodation for Ukrainian people who are caught in the conflict (at the time of writing over £14,000 of a £20,000 goal has been raised).

Adrian Rawlinson tells us “I spoke with Matthew (Mayvers; Cater Kwik, Ulverston). He wants to organise better local transport for supplies within Warsaw, so our contribution will hopefully go towards that. According to Matthew, during his visit to Warsaw, the support from the Furness / South Cumbria area was perhaps the most visible from any source at that time.”

Our team have been supporting the appeal personally with donations of supplies, the Hoad Monument (illuminated by MARL) has been turned blue and yellow in a show of support and solidarity with Ukraine, and we are considering what more we can do to help.
